Why I became a practitioner

Both of my boys were born before the advent of Natal Hypnotherapy™ and although the breathing and relaxation techniques I learned in NCT classes made a difference and I was fortunate to have fantastic support each time I now know that using hypnosis would have prepared me better had things turned out differently.

My core beliefs surrounding pregnancy and birth

Birth is a natural, instinctive process.

Birth should not be about fear and dread but should be a time of joy and expectation.

A positive birth, no matter how it was achieved, leaves a new Mother feeling happy, calm and confident. For her partner, helping her to achieve that gives them a sense of being involved and the belief that they can make a difference sets them up to be equally happy, confident parents.

My experience of working with pregnant women and my personal experience of Natal Hypnotherapy

Women and their partners are surrounded by negative accounts of birth from the press, film and television and also from what their friends and families tell them. Fear is a powerful emotion and gets in the way of instinctive birthing, increasing adrenaline and therefore making complications much more likely to set in whilst Natal Hypnotherapy™ techniques dispel fear and provide a tool for managing the birth process, keeping the labour hormones flowing.

I have taught NCT Antenatal classes for over 20 years and also teach women and their partners in NHS classes at a local Hospital. Increasing numbers of these women have been using Natal Hypnotherapy™ CDs and without doubt many of them have had uncomplicated and positive experiences. A number of them have suggested to me over the years that I should train to use birth hypnosis techniques - now here I am!

Breathing and relaxation have long been an important feature of my past teaching and I am really excited to be able to focus on and further develop this practical approach with the addition of hypnosis techniques in Natal Hypnotherapy™ workshops.
I feel very privileged to be able to work with people at such a key time in their lives as they embark on the journey towards parenthood and look forward to being able to help many more using these proven techniques.
