Fight the fear! Campaigning for confidence in childbirth.

Natal Hypnotherapy™ helps mums fight fear…

80% felt they overcame fear and anxiety leading up to the birth

88% went into the birth with a strong belief in their ability to give birth

84% felt they were extremely or very relaxed going into the birth

77% felt relaxed or very relaxed during the birth

80% felt able to manage or deal with the pain during birth

97% would recommend Natal Hypnotherapy™ to others

Mums are always telling us that they’re recommending Natal Hypnotherapy™ to all their friends, but we want to help you to take the word and spread it further - so mums everywhere have the opportunity of benefiting from Natal Hypnotherapy™.

A survey by Pregnancy and Birth, they found that 87% of pregnant women are terrified of giving birth – that’s over half a million pregnant mums in the UK every year. Natal Hypnotherapy™ is doing something about this figure. Already, 80% of Natal Hypnotherapy™ mums feel they overcame fear and anxiety leading up to the birth, and over three quarters report that they felt relaxed, or even very relaxed, during the birth itself!

Natal Hypnotherapy™ has shown that women can approach and give birth feeling prepared and confident - but more mums need to know it!

Don’t get confused - we are Natal Hypnotherapy™, not HypnoBirthing®! HypnoBirthing® is an entirely separate organisation with whom we are not at all connected.

The average caesarean rate for HypnoBirthing® is 15% for people who’ve attended a full course - Natal Hypnotherapy™ achieves the same average for CD listeners alone, while our course attendees have a 9% caeasarean rate - that’s less than half the national average!

Recommendation can really change a woman’s birth experience…

“I didn't really believe the CDs would make any difference to me but they had been recommended by a friend and I did find them very relaxing, they helped me get to sleep when I was too uncomfortable…

Despite a long birth and an emergency c-section, despite my fear of hospitals I was incredibly calm and relaxed - my husband told me afterwards that it was like a completely different woman to the one he had married! I think he is still slightly in awe of me for how well I coped that night! Despite everything we had gone through it was the most amazing and joyful moment of my life. A few weeks after the birth I was packing up my pregancy books and paraphenalia and found the CDs. On the leaflet there was an explanation of what giving birth will be like for women who practice the CDs and it described my relaxed, calm state exactly. I have no doubt now that the CDs played a big role in making my labour and birth an enjoyable experience and one I will always treasure.” Tamara

Tell your midwife

A midwife may be a birth expert – but they might not be familiar with using hypnotherapy for birth. Tell your midwife that you’re planning to use hypnotherapy, and don’t be put off if she seems unsure – many midwives teach our techniques and use them for their own births, too!

Tell Mums in your area

Tell your shops

The next time you’re in your local maternity shop, see if they stock Natal Hypnotherapy CDs. If they do, great – you can tell them about your experience with Natal Hypnotherapy. If not, you could mention your experience, and recommend they give Natal Hypnotherapy a thought – it’ll be more useful to another mum than yet another babygro!

Tell your birth story to the world!

Mums love to talk about their birth stories – and mums-to-be love to hear them! Whether online or to a magazine, let a wider audience hear what you have to say, and encourage other mums with what you’ve learnt from your experiences.

Tell the internet sites, or you can ever send your story to one of the following magazines:

Mother & Baby (write to: M & B, 4th floor, Endeavour House, 189 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JH, or email mother&baby@bauerconsumer.co.uk )

Prima Baby & Pregnancy (write to: Prima Baby, 72 Broadwick Street, London, W1F 9EP, or email prima.baby@natmags.co.uk)

Pregnancy & Birth (write to: Pregnancy & Birth, Endeavour House, 189 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JG, or email p.andb@bauerconsumer.co.uk)

Tell a Midwife

Why not drop a note to the head midwife of the hospital or birthing centre you used, telling her about your experience with hypnotherapy in birth? Midwives have a hard time of it, so let them know about a method which makes childbirth less difficult for all concerned! We run special workshops for midwives who want to learn how Natal Hypnotherapy works.

Help-A-Mum

Our CD-recycling “Help-A-Mum” scheme gives disadvantaged mums the chance to benefit from the CDs. Once you’ve finished with yours, send it back to us with a slip marked ‘Help-A-Mum’, and we’ll send it to Sure Start, a government community-support programme which passes it on to a disadvantaged mum.

Back

Why not give a quick talk to pregnant mums in your area – your antenatal class, playgroup, or yoga class? Remember, they’re probably among the terrified 80%! Let them know about what you’ve been doing to prepare for birth – they’ll probably have some good ideas to share with you too.

You can also do this after the birth – there’s nothing like having been through it to give you a bit of authority!
