Why I became a practitioner
There are so many negative images and stories out there about how awful giving birth is. I strongly believe that it doesn’t have to be like that – I want to work with parents to help them feel prepared, confident and empowered and to know and trust that pregnancy and birth are normal and natural processes and that they can experience both in a positive way.
I used Natal Hypnotherapy throughout the pregnancy and birth of my son and so have first hand experience of how powerful and effective the techniques are. Pregnancy and birth are such beautiful and special times and I am excited to have the opportunity to pass on these wonderful techniques to others and to help enrich their experiences.

My core beliefs surrounding pregnancy and birth
1. Birth is a normal and natural part of the circle of life but is often portrayed in our society as painful, out of our control and even humiliating. By consciously preparing for the birth, parents will approach the birth feeling calm, confident and in control.
2. Babies are having a conscious experience throughout the pregnancy and birth and these earliest experiences form a blueprint for their future emotional health. By keeping birth as close to how nature intended as possible, we can help to minimise potential birth trauma to both mother and baby, helping to increase bonding and promoting emotional well being.
3. A woman’s body is perfectly designed to grow and birth a baby, however, what we think and how we feel can affect the natural flow of this process. Part of the challenge is to place trust in ourselves and our natural abilities to grow and birth a baby. Conscious birth preparation helps women and their partners to place trust in themselves and each other.

My personal experience of using Natal Hypnotherapy
I was always completely terrified at the thought of giving birth and when I discovered I was pregnant I was determined to find a way of overcoming my fears.
I did some research and that’s where I came across Natal Hypnotherapy. I listened to the home birth preparation CD throughout my pregnancy and also attended the 2 day birth preparation course with my husband.
When I went into labour the hypnotherapy I had been practicing naturally kicked in – I knew how to keep my mind and body completely relaxed so that my body could do what it needed to do to birth my baby. I felt confident in managing the sensations and completely in control and this was really empowering.
I gave birth to my son at home within 2 and a half hours of labour starting with no need for any pain relief and I delivered my baby myself.
I really enjoyed giving birth and having experienced how effective the Natal Hypnotherapy techniques are, I want to help other women and their partners prepare for birth in a way that is truly empowering.

What I feel women gain from attending my course
I offer a safe, nurturing environment where women and their partners can explore their hopes, fears and anxieties about the forthcoming birth. By attending the course, women and their partners will understand the true relationship between mind and body and learn ways of preparing emotionally for the birth so that they both look forward to the birth, feeling calm, confident and in control and have trust in their body’s ability to birth their baby.
