MAGGIE'S STORY
My initial interest in Hypnotherapy came from my husband who suggested that I use Hypnosis to help with the birth of our first child. I took a self Hypnosis course when I was 7 months pregnant and was amazed at the potential and power of "mind over matter" - I was able to stick a pin into my arm with no pain or bleeding! I then went on to write my own birthing script and practiced Hypnosis daily until the birth.
Joseph was born at home in a relaxed, cosy environment in which I felt completely in control and without the need for any additional pain relief. My midwife had never worked with anyone using Hypnosis (even though she had 8 years experience). She was so amazed at the effect that she has since gone on to learn more about it and promote the use of Hypnosis with other women.
Having had such a calm, relaxed and comparatively easy birth, I was convinced that Hypnotherapy was a wonderful tool which could help so many others overcome their fear of birth and enable them to manage the physical sensations involved.
Once Joseph was born I knew that I would not go back to my old career in sales and so decided to change tack and train to be a Hypnotherapist.
I gave birth to her second son Toby James on November 27th 2002. I had a wonderful home birth, again benefiting immensely from the power of Hypnosis to have a relaxed and comfortable Birth
I have since qualified as a clinical Hypnotherapist and trained in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
I currently work with midwives, antenatal groups and hospitals running relaxation and pain management workshops and classes.
